NIPCO GAS LTD AWARDED GAS DISTRIBUTION LICENSES, BOOSTING NIGERIA’S ENERGY SECTOR
NIPCO Gas Ltd Takes Giant Leap in Improving Access to Gas Nationwide.
The Federal Government has awarded a Gas Distribution License to NIPCO Gas Ltd, a significant milestone in the company’s efforts to improve access to gas across the country.
The license was awarded in Abuja, alongside other firms in the sector, including NNPC Gas Marketing Limited, Shell Nigeria Gas Ltd, AXXELA and Falcon Corporation Limited.
According to Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, the license issuance reaffirms the government’s commitment to sustainable development of Nigeria’s vast gas resources.
Ekpo praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s visionary leadership, which enabled the license issuance, and appreciated the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority’s (NMDPRA) regulatory reforms.
The Minister stated that the issuance of the licenses is expected to increase access to gas for domestic and industrial use, driving economic growth and development nationwide. Access to affordable and sustainable energy, like gas, is key to unlocking Nigeria’s entrepreneurial potential.
Nagendra Verma, Managing Director of NIPCO Gas Ltd, expressed gratitude to the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) and the Ministry of Petroleum Resources for their dedication and efforts in processing and awarding gas distribution licenses.
Verma noted that the commitment demonstrated by the NMDPRA has further solidified investor confidence in the Nigerian gas sector.
The award of these licenses presents opportunities not only in advancing indigenous gas utilization but also in contributing meaningfully to the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
This milestone, which includes following licenses is a step forward in unlocking further investments and expanding the use of gas resources within Nigeria.
Gas Distribution Licenses awarded to NIPCO Gas are:
1. Ibadan (Ogere-Ibadan-Oluyole-Olorisiako-Asijire-Ajoda): NIPCO Gas/NGML
2. Benin City: NIPCO Gas
3. Lekki Free Trade Zone: NIPCO Gas/NGML
4. Kara-Sagamu-Abeokuta-Ibadan Axis-Sagamu Interchange-Ibafo-Isheri-Otedola Bridge: NIPCO Gas/NGML
With the award of these 4 GDL’s, NIPCO Gas has become the largest indigenous licensed gas distribution company of Nigeria.
