Media Engagement at NIPCO Gas Limited

NIPCO Gas Limited has successfully commissioned its Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations in Asaba and Warri, Delta State, reinforcing its commitment to expanding clean and affordable fueling solutions across Nigeria.

The commissioning was conducted on behalf of the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff F.O. Oborevwori, who was represented at the event by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Eze Emu. The event was also graced by Hon. Onoriode Agofure, Honorable Commissioner for Transport, Delta State, Mr. Sanjay Tarat, COO of NIPCO Gas Limited, and other distinguished dignitaries.

Speaking at the event, he described the project as a strategic initiative aimed at mitigating the impact of rising transportation costs following the removal of fuel subsidy. The launch of this CNG station offers our people an alternative means of fueling their vehicles and reduces dependence on petrol, he stated. He further reiterated the State Government’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for investments in CNG infrastructure and vehicle conversion facilities.

The Honorable Commissioner for Transport, Hon. Onoriode Agofure, described the project as transformative for the state’s transport sector. This is a game-changer. CNG provides a more affordable and efficient alternative to PMS, making it highly beneficial for both individuals and businesses, he said.

The commissioning marks the beginning of a broader rollout aligned with the Federal Government’s CNG initiative and is expected to drive increased adoption of sustainable mobility solutions across the region.

Representing NIPCO Gas Limited, Mr. Sanjay Tarat, Chief Operating Officer, reaffirmed the company’s dedication to supporting Nigeria’s transition towards a gas-based economy through continuous investments in infrastructure and strategic partnerships.

Providing further insights, Mr. Victor Attah, Projects Manager, highlighted the operational capacity of the newly commissioned stations, noting that the facilities in Asaba and Warri are capable of serving over 2,000 motorists and tricycle operators daily. He emphasized that this capacity will significantly enhance access to cleaner fuel options while contributing to reduced emissions and improved environmental outcomes.

The commissioning of the Asaba and Warri CNG stations represents a major step forward in advancing sustainable mobility and energy diversification in Delta State. The facilities are expected to not only improve fuel accessibility and affordability but also accelerate the adoption of cleaner energy solutions across the transportation sector.

The event concluded with the formal commissioning of the stations and a live demonstration of CNG dispensing for vehicles, showcasing the efficiency and practicality of the technology.
