NIPCO Gas Commissions New CNG Station in Lugbe, Abuja

In a significant step toward enhancing CNG availability across Nigeria, NIPCO Gas Limited has commissioned its fourth Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) station in Abuja, strategically located in Lugbe. This addition brings the total number of NIPCO Gas CNG stations nationwide to 21. Furthermore, two additional CNG stations at Madalla Junction and Mabushi have been constructed and are set for commissioning soon after completing regulatory compliances. This development highlights NIPCO Gas’s commitment to promoting CNG as a cost-effective and environmentally friendly fuel alternative for vehicles across Nigeria.

The newly commissioned station is designed to serve a wide range of vehicles, including cars, vans, and buses, ensuring convenient access to affordable and sustainable fuel. With this launch, NIPCO Gas continues to support the Federal Government’s drive for increased natural gas utilization as a key pillar of energy transition and economic growth.

Speaking at the commissioning event, the Managing Director of NIPCO Gas, Mr. Nagendra Verma, reaffirmed the company’s dedication to expanding CNG infrastructure across Nigeria. He stated, “The commissioning of this CNG station in Lugbe strengthens our mission to provide motorists with reliable, safe, and cost-effective fuel alternatives. With the rising costs of conventional fuels, CNG presents a practical solution that not only reduces fuel expenses but also significantly lowers vehicle maintenance costs.” The Lugbe station further expands NIPCO Gas’s growing network of CNG refueling stations, solidifying its leadership in Nigeria’s natural gas distribution sector. Equipped with modern refueling infrastructure, the station ensures efficient service delivery for both private and commercial vehicle owners seeking sustainable fuel options.

In collaboration with NGML, NIPCO Gas remains committed to developing additional CNG stations across Nigeria, further driving the country’s transition to CNG-based fuel solutions. The company fully supports the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGi), which aims to expand CNG infrastructure in alignment with national energy policies. Additionally, the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has played a crucial role in fostering a conducive regulatory environment for the growth of CNG adoption in Nigeria.

As the nation continues to embrace natural gas as a vital component of its energy diversification strategy, NIPCO Gas remains at the forefront, investing in infrastructure that enhances access to cleaner fuel alternatives. Motorists in and around Abuja can now benefit from the new CNG station in Lugbe, enjoying cost savings and environmental advantages associated with CNG adoption.

NIPCO Gas Limited remains dedicated to driving innovation and expansion in the gas sector, aligning with the Renewed Hope agenda of the President, fostering economic development, and promoting environmental sustainability in Nigeria.
